Metec Celebrates £4.5m Contract Wins – A Game Changer for Renewables

Published by Metec on

Metec UK is thrilled to announce securing two significant export contracts worth over £4.5 million. These contracts follow our best year on record in 2024. We continue to lead the offshore energy sector by supplying sacrificial anodes. Our products are crucial for protecting offshore infrastructure, such as steel monopile and jacket foundations, from corrosion. This ensures long-term protection for renewable energy assets.

One major contract involves supplying sacrificial anodes to a prominent offshore wind farm in the North Sea. This wind farm will generate green energy, powering over 3 million UK homes. The second contract supports the expansion of the offshore grid network by providing sacrificial anodes to a major offshore substation.

Driving Local Growth and Innovation

The rising demand for our products has driven Metec UK’s growth since we established our South Shields manufacturing hub. In the past eight years, we’ve created 35 local jobs. These new contracts will help us add eight more jobs, plus 10 work placements in partnership with South Tyneside College.

Future-Proofing with Solar Power and New Tooling

We’ve also received a £50,000 grant from South Tyneside Council to support our growth. This funding will increase our capacity by installing solar panels, retrofitting the building, and upgrading tooling. These upgrades will allow us to meet rising product demand.

Looking ahead, we aim to generate 50% of our energy in-house. This will strengthen our commitment to sustainability and help us stay at the forefront of the offshore energy sector.

At Metec, we are proud to contribute to the UK’s renewable energy future. We are also creating more local jobs and opportunities for the next generation. These contracts mark the beginning of an exciting chapter for Metec UK. We are committed to further growth, innovation, and supporting South Tyneside’s thriving renewable energy sector.
