Marine Civil Cathodic Protection
In 2023, Metec UK proudly supplied over 7,000 anodes to numerous Marine Civil Engineering projects from our foundry in South Shields. We’re thrilled to have been selected by civil engineering companies to provide our high-quality products. What truly sets us apart, however, is our service. Our dedicated workforce brings unmatched expertise in the design and manufacture of sacrificial anodes for Marine Civil Cathodic Protection.
Understanding the Pressures of Marine Civil Engineering Projects
At Metec Group, we understand the pressures our clients face to deliver projects on time. Sacrificial anodes, essential for Marine Civil Cathodic Protection, are often among the last items installed on quay walls and piles. This makes our performance crucial in meeting tight project deadlines. We have the capacity, flexibility, and skilled team to deliver products on time and collaborate with our clients to ensure timely installation. Our key installation partners are also ready to support projects whenever needed.
Supporting the Tyne River Development
Our recent video, filmed by “Bertie the Metec Drone,” provides a bird’s-eye view of the River Tyne. The area, historically known for heavy engineering, shipbuilding, and repair, is undergoing significant redevelopment. A major driver of this transformation is the shift towards renewable energy, particularly the demand for offshore wind turbine maintenance facilities. This includes support for projects like the Dogger Bank Wind Farm.
Metec Group has supported foundation manufacturers by supplying all sacrificial cathodic protection anodes for these projects. Our local production facility has played a key role in providing staging and storage areas, load-out facilities, and offshore wind turbine support. We’ve also helped with offshore oil, gas, and ship repair projects, as well as berth extensions for vessel loading and offloading.
Cathodic Protection in Ongoing Redevelopment
Much of the redevelopment along the Tyne—and across the UK and Europe—requires cathodic protection for new and existing sheet pile walls and cylindrical piles. These piles are driven deep into the riverbed to support concrete decks. Metec Group is proud to support both new and returning clients who trust us to deliver on our promises. Our continued success relies on these strong partnerships.
Stay tuned for an exciting new video from “Bertie the Metec Drone” as it flies through our facility. You’ll get a closer look at our production process, which covers everything from small to very large anodes. Follow us on LinkedIn for updates and insights!
